This is a unique opportunity to gain new insights and learn from those shaping the energy transition in the UK, as well as to meet Norwegian and international innovators and decision-makers – all working towards a greener future. Our program includes company visits focused on AI, political and market analysis, new business models, and the financing of sustainable energy.
On the first afternoon following our meetings, we are hosting an informal reception where we will meet a broader segment of the UK energy industry. Where we can connect with key players and companies.

Program overview
We are looking forward to welcoming you to London very soon!
Our program officially starts at 11:00 AM on Wednesday the 7th of May, where we meet at the hotel for a brief opening session. Here, we will walk through the program together and take time for a round of introductions.
After the opening, our first visit will be to Rystad Energy, where we will get an overview of the UK energy market and the key dynamics shaping the sector.
Following this, we will meet with representatives from NBIM (Norges Bank Investment Management) and the CEO of Siemens UK, gaining unique insights into investment strategies and innovation within the British energy sector.
In the afternoon are we hosting an informal reception where we will meet a broader segment of the UK energy industry.
On Thursday morning, we will spend time, including lunch at Sustainability Venture, one of the UK’s largest startup labs. Here, we will be introduced to a range of pioneering companies working within energy, sustainability, and smart solutions for the future.
The academic part of the day will conclude with a visit to Imperial College London (still to be confirmed), offering a deeper academic and research-driven perspective on energy and innovation.
Several participants have also booked a dinner and show at Mamma Mia! The Party for Thursday evening — a fun and informal way to round off a busy day. Please note that participants must book their own tickets for Mamma Mia! The Party, as this is not included in the official program.
On Friday the 9th of May, we will start the morning with a visit to Bloomberg New Energy Finance, where we will dive into the latest global energy trends and market forecasts.
Before lunch, we will conclude with either a meeting at Octopus Energy or NVIDIA, depending on final confirmations.

Rystad Energy
Rystad Energy is a leading independent research and business intelligence company, originally founded in Norway, with a strong presence in London. The company provides in-depth analysis across the entire energy sector, covering everything from oil and gas to renewables and emerging technologies.
In London, Rystad Energy plays a key role in helping financial institutions, energy companies, and policymakers navigate a rapidly changing market. Their work focuses on the transition to net-zero, offshore wind, solar developments, and the evolving landscape of energy security after Brexit.
During our visit, we will focus on two key topics:

CCS in the UK – a presentation of the incentive structures supporting carbon capture and storage, and what Norway can learn from the British approach.

NBIM
As Norwegians, we are all familiar with Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) and its role in managing the Norwegian Oil Fund. With London as one of its key international hubs, NBIM is closely connected to the global financial markets where much of the fund’s investments are made.
During our visit, we will meet NBIM’s representatives to gain valuable insights into their perspective on the green transition in the UK — how they have invested, why they have chosen certain strategies, and what they see as the key opportunities and risks ahead.
A particular focus will be on how NBIM is adapting its investments in light of the shifting geopolitical landscape, and what this means for future strategies linked to sustainability and energy markets.

Through the strong network of Smart Energy Network, and thanks to Nils Klippenberg — CEO of Siemens Norway and Chairman of Smart Energy Network — we have secured an exclusive meeting with Carl Ennis, CEO of Siemens UK.
Siemens is one of the leading global technology companies driving the energy transition through electrification, automation, and digitalization. In the UK, Siemens plays a critical role in developing smart infrastructure, renewable energy solutions, and sustainable technologies for cities, industries, and energy systems.

On Thursday morning, we will visit Sustainable Ventures, one of the UK’s leading hubs for innovation in sustainability and energy technology. Located near London’s South Bank, Sustainable Ventures is home to a vibrant ecosystem of startups, scale-ups, and investors focused on delivering solutions for a net-zero future.
Since its founding in 2011, Sustainable Ventures has supported the growth of over 500 sustainable businesses through investment, innovation support, and access to collaborative workspaces. The organization is recognized as one of Europe’s largest communities for climate tech entrepreneurs.
Our visit will begin with a presentation by Sustainable Ventures, providing an overview of their mission, operations, and insights into how the UK's innovation ecosystem is accelerating the green transition. Following the introduction, we will meet a curated selection of pioneering companies working within energy, sustainability, and smart technologies.

Airmyne
Airmyne is a climate tech startup based in Berkeley, California, focused on developing scalable, low-energy direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere. The company uses a liquid sorbent that is regenerated using low-temperature heat (100–130°C), making it possible to utilize geothermal energy and industrial waste heat. This reduces energy costs and improves operational efficiency compared to traditional DAC methods. Airmyne’s modular system is designed for integration into various industrial settings, such as chemical plants and breweries. In partnership with Fervo Energy, Airmyne aims to capture and store CO₂ in geological formations in California, contributing to permanent carbon removal at scale.

Imperial Collage
We will meet with Dr. Adrià Junyent-Ferré who is a Reader in Power Electronics at the Dept. of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London. He obtained his degree in Industrial Engineering from the School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (ETSEIB), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 2007, and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the same university in 2011.
He was a researcher at the Centre d'Innovació Tecnològica en Convertidors Estàtics i Accionaments (CITCEA-UPC) from 2006 to 2012, where he worked on grid integration aspects of wind power generation in collaboration with Alstom Wind (former Ecotecnia s.coop). He joined the Control and Power Resarch Group of the Dept. of Electrical and Electronic Eng. at Imperial College London as a Research Associate in February 2013 and became a Lecturer in September 2014.
His field of expertise is the design and control of power electronic converters. He has specific interest in HVDC transmission and new forms of low voltage power distribution. His research focuses on the development of control methods to enable a cost-effective low carbon power system based on renewable generation. He leds the RENGA project (EP/R030235/1) a Global Challenges Research Funds project to developed solutions to expand an electrical power system starting from small scale autonomous minigrids. He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society and the IEEE Control Systems Society. He served as Associeta Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery and IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy. He is the course director for the Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree and teaches several modules related to control of power electronic converter technology and real-time signal processing.

With over 20 years of experience in the energy industry, Damien is the Industry Lead for Renewables, Electrical Networks and Energy Services at AWS, globally responsible for supporting customers accelerate the energy transition. Damien’s particular area of expertise is in leveraging data to drive innovation at scale.
Prior to this role, Damien was the Chief Digital Officer of the renewables division of EDF where he was based in Paris and led the digital transformation of the group, following on from more than 10 years of experience in North America leading innovation and product development. Damien has a PhD in Physics for the University of Sydney and post-doctoral experience at University College London.
